Lace lace, baby

lace for blog 2

So, you know I’m trying to finish a project per month, right? So far, I’m still on track.

[Air-punch]

February’s finished project? Somewhat appropriately (given it contained Valentine’s Day), I tried a new knicker pattern to create a gift for a friend.

The wonderful Deby Coles of So Easy Sew has a FREE pattern on Craftsy.com for these Victoria’s Secrets style knickers. I will be leading a workshop to make them with some friends next month and, with a bit of adjustment for the lace I’ve purchased, they’ve come up a treat (see bottom right).

They’re perfect for the workshop. The pattern is super-fast to sew, can be easily scaled up or down (I’ve had to scale it down as my chosen lace is very stretchy, and will scale it up for a 50″ hip) and my friends can keep their copy of the pattern (along with the link for the instructions) without copyright infringement. Win.

I’m going to try it in a range of different laces (pictured – yes, I had another shopping spree, shush). It’s such an easy, fun project to experiment with. Plus, you’re guaranteed to have something wearable at the end of an hour’s play. Who could want for anything more?

Thank you, Deby!
